The Pingtung City Baseball Team, which has been preparing for four years, was officially established at the end of 2020. It needs NT$ 30 million in funding for the first year of its establishment. In addition to the Pingtung County Government and the Sports Administration providing two-thirds of the funding, the Pingtung County Government also raised funds from enterprises. In less than a week, it was sponsored by 9 local companies and raised NT$ 10 million; the Pingtung City Baseball Team is expected to hold an inauguration ceremony on February 27 this year.
In order to continue the inheritance and development of baseball, the Pingtung City Baseball Team has recruited 26 players and 3 coaches. And 3 of the 26 players have professional baseball experience. . Wu Li-xue, deputy head of Pingtung County, said that the team needs NT$ 30 million in the first year of establishment. The Pingtung County government, with the support of the county council, compiled a budget of 10 million, and sought another 10 million from the Sports Administration. The shortage of 10 million was raised from local enterprises.
SAI and the Foundation donated a total of NT$ 1 million and hope that more enterprises will participate and become the pushers of sports.
