SuperAlloy Industrial Co., Ltd. (SAI) has achieved ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification for the engineering and manufacturing of lightweight metal products at its facility in Douliu City, Taiwan. The company is global provider of high-quality lightweight metal products, mainly high-end forged aluminium wheels and suspension parts, destined for use in the automotive industry.
Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that SAI has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) for its Yunlin Plant I located in the Yunlin Technology-based Industrial Park Service Center, Douliu City, Taiwan. The company specialises in manufacturing automotive parts, including forged wheels and suspension parts. With an annual production capacity of 900K pieces, SAI is a large manufacturer of forged aluminium wheels for luxury and sports automobiles.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of the SAI facility was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
“We congratulate SAI for achieving Performance Standard Certification V3 (2022) Certification at its Douliu City manufacturing facility. Aluminum’s contribution to improved sustainability performance in vehicles is based in part on its lightweight nature, leading to weight reduction, improved efficiency, and enhanced performance. In addition, the lifetime of the vehicle can also be extended due to aluminium’s corrosion resistance properties. By attaining Performance Standard certification, SuperAlloy Industrial Co., Ltd. demonstrates its commitment to addressing a broad spectrum of ESG challenges in its production process, and can leverage the Standard in its pursuit to enhance its practices over time.”
– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI
“Sustainability is a key aspect of SAI corporate strategy. It is an honor to become a member of ASI. With the vehicle electrification trend, SAI continues on exploring and developing forged aluminium application possibilities. We will devote our best to responsible aluminium value chain and persevere in maximsing the contribution of aluminium.”
